The Disneyland® Monorail

The Disneyland Monorail The Disneyland® Monorail began operation in June of 1959. It currently transports visitors between the Downtown Disney® District Monorail Station and Tomorrowland, which is located within Disneyland® park.

The Downtown Disney® District Monorail Station, which is centrally positioned between Disney's Grand Californian Hotel®, the Disneyland® Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel, provides guests with convenient access to the Monorail. A one-way journey between these two points takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.

During peak travel times, the wait time for the Monorail can be longer. However, if you're staying at one of the Hotels of the Disneyland® Resort you can take advantage of the Express Boarding Pass, which provides you with priority boarding access from Disneyland® park to the Downtown Disney® District Monorail Station. The Monorail generally stops operating approximately 1/2 hour after Disneyland® park closes, so be sure to get in line with plenty of time to spare!

Fast Fact: The Disneyland® Monorail was the first of its kind to operate on a daily basis in the United States. Grand Opening ceremonies for the Monorail were officiated by Walt Disney and then Vice President Richard M. Nixon.
